Your Hope for 2030

Posted by unicefsocial on Feb 1, 2013 11:33 am

Earlier this week, Bill Gates published his annual letter discussing his foundation's work and the importance of good measurement/data analysis. Here at the U.S. Fund, we're big believers in tracking progress through data. It's how you get the job done!

Gates also invited everyone to share their wishes for 2030. How do you think we can make the world a better place in the coming decades? What are some of the issues you care most passionately about? (You can also share your hopes on the Gates Foundation app: on.fb.me/VAzpXF)

My hope for 2030 is that more children throughout the world will have better access to education, particularly girls. It's critical in breaking the cycle of poverty, and we've seen too many recent examples -  Malala in particular - of situations where children are denied an education. UNICEF and other organizations have of course made major progress, but it would be wonderful to not even have this been a concern 20 years from now.

My hope for 2030 is that we live in a peaceful world, where everyone can access healthcare no matter their background. I want to live in world where we all have access to opportunity!

My wish for 2030 is that we learn to all respect one another and our differences.

My hope for 2030 is for all the citizens of the world to unite under a common goal: each other. All the issues in the world would be overcome by the power and influence of a united global population.

My hope for 2030 is equal, respectful, and quality access to resources like healthcare and education for all people, regardless of background. My hope for 2030 is that discrimination and prejudice will not hinder our ability to give everyone a better quality of life.

My hope for 2030 is that there will be no more children used as soldiers in conflicts and that countries address their conflicts with one another through peaceful talks rather than means of war.

My hope for 2030 is for all children to have access to basic needs -- including quality education, healthcare, and safety. By 2030, I hope we are even close to a day when ZERO children die of causes we can prevent.

My hope for 2030 is that people all around the world will become more involved in achieving public education for children. Every child deserves the opportunity to strive for their goals and reach their full potential. I hope that someday, every child can attend school and learn from a textbook, every child will have paper to write their ideas on and a pencil to write them with, every child will be exposed to science, history, literature, and math, and every child may begin on equal ground

I hope that by 2030 the rate of children who die of preventable diseases will be reduced to close to ZERO, if not ZERO. I also hope that child trafficking will be ended by 2030, and the world will be a peaceful and healthy place for children around the world.
