Building Capital

Posted by jesszhao on Feb 12, 2013 3:06 am

Our club has many ideas for fundraisers but we need to establish some capital first because as of now, our officers are using their own money for the events. We can not charge membership fees and we are relativly new, so getting sponsors would be extremely difficult. Are there any other ideas to building a foundation for our club?

Hi Jesszhao,
Thanks for your post? Firstly, are you a campus or a high school club?

It is hard to build capital, we know this, which is why we suggest that when throwing fundraisers clubs try to secure as many resources donated as possible. For example, if you want to host a fundraiser with food, trying to secure donated food (or cooking your own) is a good start. You'd be shocked by how many businesses will donate items to a fundraiser to benefit UNICEF.

Hopefully this is helpful, but if not, please let us know and we'll try to provide some other helpful information for you.
Thanks again for your support!
Best,

We are a highschool club. And thanks for the advice! We'll try to talk with local businesses about donations, but many of them are already affiliated with another organization or are already donating to the food bank/soup kitchens. Would it be possible to talk with larger corporations like Target and Walmart or is this out of the question?
